Who we are

Escarpment Sites is an independent web design and development studio based in South Africa, working with clients worldwide. We are responsible for the personal information you share with us through this website. You can reach us at escarpment.sites@gmail.com.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us through the enquiry form or by email:

• your name and email address;
• your business name, country and current website, if you provide them;
• the type of project, budget range and message you write.

This website does not use cookies, advertising pixels or cross-site tracking. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running, and may give us anonymous, cookie-free visitor statistics.

How we use it

• to reply to your enquiry and prepare your free design concept and quote;
• to deliver and support a project if you become a client;
• to keep a record of what was agreed.

We use your information because you asked us to respond (steps taken before entering a contract) and, where relevant, to perform our contract with you. We never sell your information or add you to a mailing list without asking.

Who processes it

We rely on a small number of trusted providers, some of which store data outside your country (including the United States):

• Formspree — receives enquiry-form submissions and forwards them to our inbox;
• Google (Gmail) — our email provider;
• Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used on this site, which means your browser connects to Google's servers;
• Our website host — delivers the site through its global network.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms and appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become projects are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as needed to support your site and meet legal and tax obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example under the EU/UK GDPR or South Africa's POPIA — you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it. Email escarpment.sites@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
